Writing a Professional Email

I read this blog from one of the other student's blog site. The essay that was written was about how to write professional emails. Typcailly, emails are very informal however, due to the fact that many times these days, the way that people apply for jobs is through email, it is very important to be able to compose a well written email. The essay says that the employer does not always read the entire cover letter, however, it is very important that it is well composed so in the case that they do. If you are writing an email, it is important that they take you seriously, there are a variety of ways to make sure that you are taken seriously. Some are don't use emoticons ( such as :0 ) other things that are important no to have are being too informal, misspelling or poor grammar, no capitalization, and spelling the words the way that they sound. The authors says that she knows it might be difficult for students to switch from casual to formal writing so it is importnat to reread the email that you have sent and see where your mistakes were.

So this past semester, SJSU took away Bus100W. I know that some people have a problem with this. I have friends that think that it is bad decision to take away Bus100w because business is one of the largest majors if not the largest here at San Jose State. I personally don't see a huge problem with taking away Bus100W. My personal opinion is that most 100W classes are somewhat similar. They all teach writing and all teach us how to put together a resume. People can look at it things in this sense. Now they have more choices. You may not be able to do 100W in Business but now students have the choice between Langauge and Lingustics Development, Communications, or English. I think that this could benefit people because it could help them actually specialize in their field even more. An example would be in Marketing it would be better to take Communications or maybe in International Business it would be better to take English. By taking away Bus100W, the school can save money and could actually be beneficial to students.

Windows Vista and Me

As many people know, Microsoft just came out with Windows Vista. I think that this program is going affect me greatly in the future while i am going into an accounting type of field. Currently there are probably bugs that need to be worked out, however, once it is, the accounting computer systems are probably going to change. By the time i graduate, many of the computer will be well equiped with Vista and i will have to adjust. I think that this will be difficult becuase i would have just graduated knowing the old systems and then i will have to adjust to a new systems right off the bat. If i'm lucky, there won't be too many differences.

Hey Everyone!
My name is Cari Rae Lam. I am currently 20, however, i do turn 21 in less than a month! I was born in San Francisco, but have been living in the town of Danville since i was in Kindergarten. Danville is a small town which is located about 15 minutes north of Pleasanton. I have two brothers, Nicholas and John. Nick is 2 years older than me and John is 6 years younger. Nick graduated from the University of California, Irvine last June in Applied Ecology. He is currently working for UC Irvine and doing research, however in Fall 2007 he will be going back to school to get his masters and Ph.D. John is currently a sophomore in high school and getting ready to take his drivers permit test. My parents, Don and Lori, have been married for just over 24 years. They met in high school and have been together ever since. My dad is an architect and does corporate interior design and my mom is an accounting recruiter. As for myself, i am a junior at San Jose State University and majoring in Accounting & Information Systems. I have been a member of Delta Gamma at SJSU for over 2 years and am currently the Vice President of Membership. I live at the Delta Gamma house with about 45 other girls. I know what you're thinking, she's crazy, but really it isn't that bad. The key is, learn to forgive, stay away from drama, and don't talk crap about others. When i first came to SJSU, i met my boyfriend, Nate who just turned 24 a couple months ago and is a mechanical engineer. He is in a fraternity, Theta Chi, and was vice president last year. Again, i know what you are thinking, fraternity boy, sorority girl, but really, we aren't like that. I've learned many things from all the people that i've met and the experiences that i've gone through, and the most important thing i've learned is just to relax and take each day as it comes.
